Disposal in the Netherlands
From 12 August 2028 – or 24 months after the entry into force of the relevant implementing acts of the European Commission, if that date is later — a uniform, harmonised EU labelling system for packaging will be introduced pursuant to Art. 12 of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR). Until that date, the national disposal routes described above remain applicable.
The disposal routes listed are based on the regulations in force in the Netherlands (Verpact/Afvalfonds Verpakkingen, Activiteitenbesluit milieubeheer) and standard municipal practice as of August 2026. The specific assignment to bins may vary by municipality (source separation or post-separation). For binding information, please contact your municipality or your recognised waste contractor.

B2B / Commercial delivery
Recognised waste contractor (commercial waste). Commercial recipients dispose of larger wooden crates and pallets via a recognised commercial waste contractor, not via the municipal collection. Basis: Regulation (Activiteitenbesluit milieubeheer)
B2C / End customer
Municipal recycling centre. As a private individual, take the wooden crate to the municipal recycling centre; it must not be placed in the general waste bin.

B2C / End customer
PMD bin/bag (or post-separation, depending on the municipality). Plastic films and strapping bands go in the PMD bin/bag or in the residual waste for post-separation, depending on the local system. Basis: EPR / Municipal (Verpact)
