Disposal in Spain
From 12 August 2028 – or 24 months after the entry into force of the relevant implementing acts of the European Commission, if that date is later – a uniform, harmonised EU labelling system for packaging will be introduced pursuant to Art. 12 of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR). Until that date, the national disposal routes described above remain applicable.
The disposal routes listed are based on the regulations in force in Spain (Ley 7/2022, Real Decreto 1055/2022) and standard municipal practice as of August 2026. From 1 January 2025, it is also mandatory to indicate the correct bin using pictograms on household packaging. For binding information, please contact your local waste management authority or appointed commercial waste contractor.

B2B / Commercial delivery
Authorised waste contractor. Companies must dispose of larger crates and pallets via an authorised waste contractor, within the framework of extended producer responsibility for industrial packaging (wood recycling target: 25%, RD 1055/2022). Basis: Regulation (RD 1055/2022)
B2C / End customer
Recycling centre. As a private individual, take the wooden crate to the municipal recycling centre; it must not be placed in any of the household waste bins. Basis: Municipal
