Disposal in Romania
From 12 August 2028 – or 24 months after the entry into force of the relevant implementing acts of the European Commission, whichever is later – a uniform, harmonised EU label for packaging will be introduced under Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR). Until then, the national disposal routes described above continue to apply.
The disposal routes mentioned are based on current Romanian legislation (Law 249/2015 on packaging, Government Decision 1074/2021 on the deposit-return system) and current municipal practice, as of August 2026. The RetuRO system is in an expansion phase; for binding information, please contact your local waste management operator or RetuRO SGR.

Authorised waste management operator. Companies must dispose of larger wooden crates and pallets separately through an authorised waste management operator, not via the municipal collection centre. Basis: Law
B2C / End customer
Local collection centre (not the yellow bin). As a private individual, take wooden crates to the local waste collection centre; they must not be disposed of with residual waste. Basis: Municipal

Yellow bin (plastic/metal), except for beverage containers marked with SGR. Small metal parts (clips, buckles), if predominantly metal, can be placed in the yellow bin. Metal beverage containers (0.1–3 litres) are subject to the RetuRO deposit-return system. Basis: EPR/Municipal + RetuRO SGR
